Lodge Officers Training Course

Optional, Self-Paced Training for Brothers Preparing to Lead

The Lodge Officers Training Course (LOTC) is an open-book, self-study program designed to help Master Masons better understand Lodge operations, officer responsibilities, and practical administration.

While optional, LOTC is strongly recommended for Brothers seeking to strengthen their leadership foundation.

A Structured Guide to Lodge Leadership and Administration

The Lodge Officers Training Course (LOTC) is an optional, self-paced educational program offered by the Grand Lodge of Florida for Master Masons who want a deeper understanding of how a Lodge operates.

While not required for elected office, LOTC is strongly recommended for Brothers who intend to serve in leadership roles or who want to be better prepared to support their Lodge effectively.

Completion of LOTC, in addition to the Master Mason Examinations (MM I–III) and Masonic Leadership Training (MLT), qualifies a Brother for the Purple Proficiency Card.

Who May Take LOTC

  • Any Master Mason in good standing

  • No current office required

  • Open to Brothers at any stage of their Masonic journey

LOTC is especially valuable for:

  • Aspiring officers

  • Current appointed officers

  • Past Masters seeking a refresher on Lodge administration

  • Brothers who want to better understand Lodge governance and operations

Course Structure

The Lodge Officers Training Course consists of three modules, each containing seven lessons:

  • Module I – Fundamentals of Lodge Organization and Governance

  • Module II – Planning, Administration, and Leadership Responsibilities

  • Module III – Advanced Lodge Operations and Practical Management

Each lesson is open-book, designed to be completed individually, and focuses on real-world Lodge responsibilities rather than memorization.

How the Course Is Completed

  • Lessons are completed independently, not in a classroom setting

  • Brothers work through the provided study material at their own pace

  • Completed modules are submitted for review

  • Examinations are graded by the Zone Chairman of Masonic Education

  • A certificate is issued upon successful completion of each module

Why Consider LOTC

LOTC helps Brothers:

  • Understand the responsibilities of Lodge officers at every level

  • Learn how Lodges are organized and governed under Florida Masonic Law

  • Develop practical planning, administrative, and leadership skills

  • Serve their Lodge with confidence, competence, and accountability

Many Brothers who complete LOTC find that it becomes a long-term reference they return to throughout their Masonic careers.
