How Do I Become a Freemason?
Freemasonry is one of the world’s oldest fraternal organizations, built on the principles of brotherhood, personal integrity, service to others, and self-improvement. For centuries, men from all walks of life have joined the Craft to better themselves, support their communities, and build lasting friendships grounded in shared values.
Taking the First Step
Freemasonry is not meant to be a typical social club or a casual affiliation. It is a lifelong commitment to personal growth, ethical living, and service to others.
Our fraternity brings together men of integrity from all walks of life. While our backgrounds may differ, we are united by shared principles: Brotherly Love, Relief, and Truth.
If you are interested in becoming a Mason, please complete the Membership Inquiry Form linked here.

Basic Qualifications for Membership
To be eligible for membership in a Florida Masonic Lodge, you must:
Be a man of lawful age (18 or older)
Be of good moral character
Believe in a Supreme Being (how you understand that belief is personal)
Seek membership of your own free will, without pressure or coercion
Be mentally competent and capable of participating in Lodge activities
Meet residency requirements established by the Grand Lodge of Florida
Be recommended by members of a local Lodge
Successfully complete a background check and investigation process
How the Process Works
Freemasonry begins at the local Lodge level. Each Lodge has its own culture, traditions, and rhythm. Prospective candidates are encouraged to ask questions, meet members, and take time to understand the commitment before proceeding.
If you submit an inquiry through this site, your information will be shared with the District’s Membership Development Chairman, who will help connect you with an appropriate Lodge in Broward County.
When ready, a formal petition may be submitted to a Lodge. This begins a deliberate process that includes references, a background check, a home interview, and a secret ballot of the Lodge members. Membership requires a unanimous vote.
Degrees and Expectations
Freemasonry is conferred through three symbolic degrees: Entered Apprentice, Fellow Craft, and Master Mason. Advancement is earned through participation, study, and demonstrated commitment.
Freemasonry is a working Brotherhood. Members are expected to attend, learn, contribute, and serve. This fraternity is not about titles or status. It is about accountability, growth, and shared responsibility.
